Discover Jordan's wilderness

Shepherding in the mountains

Cultural experience and sightseeing

Step into the timeless traditions of Bedouin life…

… with a night’s homestay with a local family followed by a guided day of shepherding in the mountains of Feynan in the Dana Biosphere Reserve. This experience is more than a walk – it’s a journey into a way of life that has shaped generations. Goat herding holds deep historical and spiritual meaning, once practiced by prophets – and remains a cornerstone of Bedouin culture today.

Stay the night with a Bedouin family in Feynan and enjoy a delicious, home-cooked meal and wake the next morning refreshed and ready to set out at around 9am.

You will join local shepherds and their donkey as they lead their goat flock across rugged terrain, guided by their inherited knowledge of soil, grazing patterns and weather. Along the way, share tea, watch bread baked over an open fire and enjoy a simple, authentic lunch prepared by your host.

The day will unfold at a gentle pace – a mix of walking, resting and connecting with nature.

Approximate timing: 2 days (with the option of an additional second overnight stay in Bedouin’s family home in Feynan)

Best for: Peace seekers and heritage lovers
